Menopause Weight Gain & Fatigue: A Metabolic Health Approach That Actually Works
By Wendy Jordan, certified wellness coach
If your body has started to change in your forties or fifties and the old rules no longer work, you are not imagining it. Hormones shift, sleep gets lighter, and muscle becomes easier to lose. Many women feel tired and puzzled at the same time.
What often changes in midlife
- Muscle mass tends to decline unless you actively protect it.
- Sleep can become lighter or broken, which affects appetite and energy.
- Stress feels heavier and recovery takes longer.
- Blood sugar can swing more, which may show up as cravings and crashes.
Every woman is different. Your own healthcare provider is the right person to talk with about menopause, hormones and any symptoms that worry you.
A body-first approach
Rather than cutting calories harder, start with the things that support your metabolism.
- Protein at every meal, in amounts your provider agrees are right for you.
- Strength training two or three times a week, built up gradually.
- A steady sleep routine, even when sleep is imperfect.
- Daily walking and time outdoors.
- Stress care you will actually do.
Labs can add clarity
Functional lab work can give you and your medical team more to go on than a scale. It helps you see what your body is doing instead of guessing.
You do not have to do this alone
The goal is a plan that feels doable, with support when you slip. Small habits repeated over months tend to matter more than a perfect week.
