GLP-1 Microdosing: A Gentle Way to Restart Your Metabolism Without Starting Over
By Wendy Jordan, certified wellness coach
You may have heard the word "microdosing" in connection with GLP-1 medications and wondered what it means. It is a topic many women ask me about, so here is a plain, careful overview.
A quick note first. I am a certified wellness coach, not a prescriber. I do not recommend doses or tell anyone what to take. Any decision about medication belongs to you and your prescribing provider.
What people mean by the term
In everyday conversation, microdosing usually refers to using a smaller amount of a medication than the standard schedule. Whether that is appropriate for a particular person is a medical question. Not every provider uses this approach, and research on it is still developing.
Why women ask about it
- They want fewer side effects such as nausea or fatigue.
- They are worried about losing muscle.
- They want to stay on track after a plateau or a break.
- They want a plan that feels sustainable.
Questions to bring to your medical team
- Is this approach appropriate for me and my health history?
- What should I watch for, and when should I call you?
- How will we track my progress and labs?
- What is the plan if I want to pause or stop?
Where coaching fits
Whatever your provider decides, the habits around the medication matter: protein, strength training, sleep, hydration and a calm nervous system. That support is what I help with, alongside your medical team.
